Funeral of the Anarchist Galli

Carlo Carra’s painting, Funeral of the Anarchist Galli, was painted in 1911. Although his art was supposed to portray speed, violence, or any other trait of the Futurist genre, he painted more with Divisionism. Divisionism, first brought about by French artist Paul Signac, uses a method of painting with pure color."Signac proposed that to achieve the brightest and purest color, all those of the spectrum should be used, applied in small daubs or dots of unmixed pigment which vary according to the size of the painting" (artprofessor.com)
